THE STORY : Did you know that the fig is one of the oldest fruit trees domesticated by man? The tree, like the fruit has always been at our side, offering its medicinal and nutritional virtues. Along village roads in Provence you have the scent of fig trees offering their ripe fruit, swollen with sunshine. Pick and eat a fig straight away. Their skin, so flavoursome, the flesh so generous, makes it a divine fruit. Both slightly crunchy and honeyed, the fig hides in its heart a concentration of flavours. It’s the subtlety which inspired ARHUMATIC’S Ficus Carica; a taste experience which evokes, for some people, authentic memories.
THE FRUIT : Swollen with sunshine, the fig is a delicate fruit, delicious with both sweet and slightly acidic flavours. The black fig is very delicate and must be harvested at the right moment of ripeness, most often at the end of Summer to unveil all its delicacy, succulence and generosity. It is a fleshy fruit, under its skin is a juicy pulp, pomegranate red and full of little seeds.
SEASONALITY : Domesticated over thousands of years, the fig is a fruit with a very short season. It is one of the features of the fig which makes it an exceptional fruit. ARHUMATIC fresh fig is available from September until the exhaustion of stocks.
This is the only fruit where the skin has been preserved because the fig rapidly loses its violet colour. The fig floats nobly in the bottle, showing the achenes. A true fruit of the fig tree.
Very sweet, the delicacy of the fig can be perceived, and immediately reminds us of sunshine and fig trees.
Quite young, this maceration has all the subtleties of fresh fig flavours and the fine taste of the skin. It is a real delight. Over time this maceration reveals more and more the flavours of the dried fig.
